Wilma B. Boone, age 76, of U.S. 19-E in Spruce Pine, the Estatoe community, made her way to her heavenly home in the early morning hours on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 while surrounded by her loved ones at her home. Born on July 7, 1942 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Nettie Biddix Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Hughes.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Martin Hughes; her twin sister, Willie Lester; her brothers; John Carl Buchanan and David Scott Buchanan; and a sister; Ida Mae Pittman. Wilma was a member of the Altapass Baptist Church. She loved family get togethers and enjoyed shopping, gardening and working in her flowers.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-one years; Don Boone of the home; her son, Mike Hughes and wife, Carmen of Spruce Pine; her daughters; Pamela Lowery and husband, Charles of Spruce Pine and Vanda Forbes and husband, Jerry of Spruce Pine; her brother, Ted Buchanan and wife, Linda of Middleburg, NC; and there are five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Wilma Boone on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Dr. Marcus Benfield and Dr. Rocky Branch officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be in the First Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the extraordinary care they provided Mrs. Boone and her family during her illness.
