Obituary for Winford L. “Wince” Hamilton GREENFIELD – Winford L. “Wince” Hamilton, age 82, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born on August 5, 1936 in Floyd County, Kentucky as the son of Hiney H. and Phenia (Roberts) Hamilton. He graduated from Betsy Lane High School and served in the Marine Corps.

Wince married Wanda (Fleming) on February 21, 1989 in Greenfield. He worked for Western Electric for 25 years before retiring in 1977. Wince was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Communication Workers of America (CWA), where he was a former Union President Representative.

He enjoyed going to horse races and betting on horses. Wince is survived by his wife, Wanda Hamilton of Greenfield; son, Steven L. (Chaundra) Hamilton of Baltimore, MD; and three granddaughters, Eve, Meg, and Iris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiney and Phenia Hamilton; two brothers, Bill and Link Hamilton; and three sisters, Georgia Mitchell, Angie Gillam, and Sheila Hamilton.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 3:30 p.m. Military rites will be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will take place at a later date at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Riley Children’s Foundation, 30 South Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
