Winnie (Scott) Gallup, 92, passed away peacefully at home January 5, after a long illness. She was born on August 16, 1926, on Burton Hill in Irasburg, VT, and was one of 12 children of Willie and Annie B Scott. Winnie graduated Barton (VT) Academy and went on to be accepted into the nursing program, and eventually graduated from Cooley Dickinson Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton (MA) as an Army Cadet Nurse in the mid-1940s.

She then worked in various hospitals in Vermont before moving to Holyoke where she was employed at Holyoke Hospital and continued in private duty nursing while raising her family. Winnie was pre-deceased by her husband, Stanley P. Gallup in 1996, and a daughter, Gail Zirkle, in 2014. She is survived by her children, Edward & Sue Gallup of Westfield, Brian & Carol Gallup of Holyoke, Douglas Gallup of Westfield, Sharon Robertson of Holyoke, Louann & Bill Sullivan of Westfield, Sherman Gallup of Vail, Arizona, and Wendy & Efrain Hocog of Chicopee; 16 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren, all who meant the world to her.

She is also survived by 2 brothers, Clair of Arizona, and Walter of Washington State. Services will be at the Dillon Funeral Home, 124 Chestnut Street, Holyoke, Thursday, January 17. Calling hours will begin at 4pm followed by a memorial service at 6pm.

Burial in Irasburg, VT, will be private.
