While attending high school Jane was a member of the band and played clarinet, studied piano, and made good grades.
She spent much of her growing up with her cousin Jack who cared for her like a brother as Jane was an only child. Jane was asked to write her best friends brother who was in the service during the Korean War and Jane agreed- but only after he wrote her first. Upon his return home Jane and Dan Harbert dated and were married on September 11, 1954 at the Methodist Church of Denton, Texas.
Her best friend Helen became her sister–n- law and resides in Texarkana at this time. Jane is survived by her four children, Brenda and Jack of Porter, Texas; Pamela Ekizian of Lampasas, Texas; Karen and Randy of Arlington, Texas; and Bryan and Sheri of Arlington as well, 12 grandchildren, 4 honorary grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren with number 13 due on March 4th. Jane followed her husband to Japan and Germany for 3 tours. She put her seamstress skills to work making beautiful dresses for her girls. Jane loved to help Dan call bingo on Saturday nights in Japan at the Naval Base EM Club and then on Sundays the family would attend church and Dad would take the family to the EM club and roll movies for all the families to watch.
Some of Jane’s favorite times were spent in the CCHS bleachers watching the Cove “Bulldogs”! Her and Dan had season tickets for 45 years at least. Jane and Dan were proud to watch and support their 4 children as members of the CCHS band watching the games, parades and competitions.
Jane was a devout Methodist for all her 82 years, her love for the Lord led her to serve in the church in many capacities at the churches she attended faithfully. Jane and Dan enjoyed many travels to see the kids and grandkids in South Carolina, Washington State, and California. Jane went to be with her Lord after being admitted to St. David’s, Austin, Texas.
Jane was happy and healthy up to weeks prior to her unexpected passing.
