Yvonne Geraldine Stukey June 03, 1920 – February 03, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Yvonne Geraldine (Platt) Stukey, 98, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the Life Care Center in Burlington. Yvonne was born June 3, 1920, on the family farm near Gridley, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence B. and Maud Elizabeth (Sage) Platt. On October 9, 1937, she and Alvin Earl Stukey were married in El Dorado, Kansas.

They became the parents of a daughter and a son. They moved from Shawnee, Kansas, to Burlington 35 years ago. Yvonne had worked at her father’s feed store, did babysitting, and decorated cakes.

She was well known for her angel food cake. Her husband, Alvin, preceded her in death on August 7, 2005. Yvonne remained in their home until a few weeks ago when she moved to the Life Care Center.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Alvin Lawrence Stukey; her sisters, Darlene Stukey, Bonita Bahr, Merlyn Bahr, and Mona Lea Birk; her brother, Lawrence “Bud” Platt; and a grandson, Bob Lingenfelter. She leaves her daughter, Shirley Yvonne Lingenfelter and husband Wayne of Gridley; seven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 8, 2018, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

Burial will follow in Gridley Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. Friday until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burlington or Gridley United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 6839.
