Adeline “Addy” V. Schmidt, of Sheboygan, formerly of Franklin, passed away Thursday morning, September 13, 2018 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was 90 years old. Addy was born July 12, 1928 in Sheboygan, the daughter of Alfred F. and Helen (nee Kolb) Smith.

As a student, she was in the orchestra and played a violin handmade by her father. She graduated from North High School in 1946. On June 10, 1950, she was united in marriage with Roger H. Schmidt.

A motivated and successful business woman, she worked as an insurance adjuster and claims manager for Heritage and EBI until her retirement in 1994. Addy was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and currently attended Hope Reformed Church.

She was also a member of the Junior Women’s Club and later the Shoreline Women’s Club where she served as President three times. Through the decades that she was involved, she served on many committees. An independent, creative and young spirit, Addy loved to be trendy and fashionable both in her apparel and home decorating.

She enjoyed being in fashion shows for TLC, and getting dressed up to go to the symphony, movies or out to eat with family and friends. She will be remembered for her creativity and always standing out. Addy is survived by her children: James (Jenny) Schmidt of Sheboygan, Karin Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, Jonathan (Colleen) Schmidt of Sheboygan, Kristine (Roy) Grossman of Round Lake, IL, Katherine (Michael) Fillion of Plymouth, and Jeffrey (Toyoko) Schmidt of Sheboygan.

She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Marian Seno and Arlynn Nauschultz, both of Sheboygan Falls, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Roger and siblings: Eldon Smith, Robert Smith, Delores Milauskas and Eugene Smith. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th St. in Sheboygan.

Pastor Bill TeWinkle will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 -3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
