Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux has been entrusted with the arrangements. Adolph was born on October 23, 1922 in Bismarck, North Dakota to August and Melita Lauf. He was raised on the family farm north of Golden Valley, North Dakota.
Adolph was the youngest in a family of four older brothers and two sisters. He attended school in Mercer County, North Dakota and graduated from Golden Valley High School in 1942. Adolph left the farm to work in the ship building areas of Portland, Oregon and Tacoma, Washington during World War II.
After the war, he returned home to North Dakota. Adolph then met and married Lois Johnson from Werner, North Dakota in March of 1949. The couple moved to Wibaux after his oldest brother, Albert, and he bought Jack’s Supper Club east of Wibaux.
They operated the nightclub for twenty-eight years. Over the years, Adolph and Albert were able to meet and know many people from eastern Montana and the western North Dakota region. To the very end of his life, Dad liked to reminisce about past patrons; he still remembered customer’s favorite beverages.
In retirement he ran errands for his wife, Lois, and shuttled grandchildren to school and sporting events. He enjoyed watching the grandkids play sports, especially baseball and basketball. In his later years, the car headed out of town to family reunions, weddings and senior citizen dance classes.
