Obituary for Peter “Pete” Bernard Schieffer Peter Bernard Schieffer, age 83, of Wibaux, Montana passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be held 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Silha Funeral Home in Wibaux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wibaux with Father Xavier Arimboor officiating.

Rite of Committal will follow services at the Wibaux Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Wibaux has been entrusted with the arrangements. Peter was born on February 16, 1935 in Beach, North Dakota to Peter H and Theresa (Kremers) Schieffer.

He attended school through the eighth grade in Beach, North Dakota. On August 24, 1956 he married Ruth A. Wyckoff in San Diego, California where he was stationed. Pete served from November of 1955 until August of 1957 as a machinist mate in the United States Navy.

Upon returning to Wibaux, he worked for Daniel Oilfield Service and the State of Montana Highway Department. In June of 1957, he began employment with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. Pete provided service to farmers and ranchers in Wibaux County for over thirty-three years.

Pete retired on June 31, 1990 and started full time ranching and farming. When he was not working full time, you could find him behind the wheel of a school bus driving to sports activities or his route. Pete was a member of numerous organizations.

In Jaycee’s he received an Outstanding Jaycee Award, he was a member of the Wibaux Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-six years, a City Councilman for seventeen years, served for the Soil District for over forty years and was on the Wibaux County Fairboard for over forty years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and having them visit, sharing his wisdom of farming, ranching, hunting and small town life. Pete is preceded in death by a son, Zachary; his parents, Theresa and Peter H and siblings, Cecilia Erickson, Agnes Berg, Tony Schieffer, Hank Schieffer, Catherine Rogers and Sylvester Schieffer.

Pete is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Cynthia Schieffer of Spokane, Washington and Dolene (John) Anderson of Great Falls, Montana; three grandchildren, Trevin (Maggie) Anderson of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Jauna Anderson and Justin Palin of Florence, Montana and Ethan Anderson of Helena, Montana; his siblings, Betty Piesik of Glendive, Montana, Bill Schieffer of Beach, Paul (Elaine) Schieffer of Miles City, Montana and Patty (Curt) Foust and numerous nieces and nephews.
