Obituary for Aida Villanueva Aida Villanueva, 76, wife of the late Gilbert Villanueva, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at MidState Medical. Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on April 24, 1942, daughter of the late Pablo Colon and Manuela Vazquez. Mrs. Villanueva was a longtime Meriden resident and graduated from Julia Richman High School of New York, Class of 1960.

Aida was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and dance, she enjoyed knitting and family gatherings. She is survived by two daughters, Aida I. Villanueva and her husband Luis Alvelo and Monica Villanueva and her husband Efrain Nieves and a son, Gilbert Villanueva Jr

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Maribel Elizabeth Villanueva, Gilbert Rafael Villanueva, Alejandro Villanueva, Brandon Mike Contreras, Bryan Anthony Contreras and his wife Katherine Joy Contreras, Genesis Nicole Alvelo, Jaida Danielle Nieves and Kiara Chantelle Nieves, twelve great grandchildren; Celine, Briseis, Giselle, Annabelle, Estella, Isabella, Alejandro and Aaliyah Villanueva, Isaac, Eva and Ronin Ramirez and Aidan Christopher Contreras, one sister; Rosa Iris DeJesus and her husband Jesus Maria and two brothers; Pablo Colon Jr., and his wife Miledy and Jose Colon. She was predeceased by her brother Miguel Colon. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden.

Burial will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday night prior to the service from 4 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contribution on her memory may be made to the Fresenius Kidney Care Central CT Center, 377 Research Parkway, Meriden CT 06450 or to Tatas Restaurant of Wallingford, 32 Central St., Wallingford, CT 06492.
