Obituary for Ala Athlen Keen Sweeney Ala Athlen Keen Sweeney (Teen), age 81, formerly of Whitewood, VA went home to her heavenly father on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, VA. Ala was born September 20, 1936 in Buchanan County, VA and was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mae Elrod Keen. She was homemaker and attended the Whitewood Worship Church in Whitewood, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Dewey R. Sweeney; two sons, Juble Lee Sweeney and Dewey Lee Sweeney; and one brother, William Bill Keen. She is survived by: Sons: Everette Sweeney of TX Ernest Sweeney and wife, Vicky of Jewell Ridge, VA Scotty Sweeney and wife, Anna of Wytheville, VA Daughter: Wanda Brown and husband, David of Richlands, VA Sisters: Helen White of Lebanon, VA Diane Cantrell of Jewell Ridge, VA Debbie Ward of Gordonsville, VA Patsy Clifton of Clifton Fork, VA Brothers: George Keen of Leesburg, VA Ronnie Keen of Hopewell, VA Kenneth Keen of Jolo, WV Dean Keen of Swords Creek, VA Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Funeral services for Ala Athlen Keen Sweeney (Teen) will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Rev.

Lonnie Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Noah Stewart Family Cemetery on Compton Mountain. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
