Alan was born on April 23, 1955 in Alexandria, the first child of Clifford and Joy Guenther of Leaf Valley. He grew up on the farm, attending Pleasant Grove Country School District #28 through the 8th grade. Alan showed an early aptitude for things mechanical and drove his own stock car at the Viking Speedway during his senior year of high school.

His racing career ended when he rolled the car six times, amazingly walking away with only bruises. Al graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973, and then completed the Diesel Mechanics program at AATC, graduating in 1975. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and put many miles on his bikes, as well as many hours in the garage rebuilding them.

Al was also an avid outdoorsman and hunter; he participated in many fall deer hunts with friends and neighbors in the Leaf Valley area. He also traveled to Colorado to hunt elk with his father-in-law. Alan married Debra Vogt in 1986 and though they later divorced, they maintained a good relationship and spent a lot of time together.

They were blessed with three children; son, Jared and daughters, Jenna and Jade. Al started his own business in Carlos in the early 90’s and ran it for a decade until health complications forced him to quit working full time. Alan passed away his home in Parkers Prairie on June 7th of natural causes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cliff; sister, Cathy; and son, Jared. He is survived by his mother, Joy Guenther of Alexandria; brother, Greg of Parkers Prairie; sister, Barbara of Albuquerque, NM; and daughters Jenna of Juneau, AK and Jade of Madison, WI. A man who was always ready to help friends and family, Al was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will follow from 1:30 – 4:00 PM at the Millerville Parish Hall.
