Alena Ivlue Rosa, 79, passed away peacefully Monday, October 15, 2018 in Draper, Utah and was welcomed into heaven by her loving husband and her two beautiful sons. Ivlue was born June 29, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Elmer Joseph Bowen and Sara Darley Bowen. She was married to Jose Antonio Rosa.

Ivlue grew up in Magna, UT and was the 5th of eight children. She attended Cyprus High School and was the captain of the synchronized swim team. She married the love of her life, Joe, on October 26, 1958.

Together they raised 3 beautiful children: Joe “Tony,” Jay, and Alena. Ivlue taught them how to be kind, hardworking, non-judgmental, and to be happy despite the challenges of life. She had a big, happy heart and loved to laugh.

She was a strong-minded lady and handled all her trials with goodness and grace. No matter the challenge, she did it with style, and great hair! Ivlue loved her hair and her long dark eye-lashes!

As her children grew older, she entered back into the workforce as a lunch manager for Jordan School District. Her talent for cooking shined at work and at home. Many loved her Puerto Rican dishes.

Ivlue was very organized in the caring of her home and yard. She especially enjoyed decorating her yard at Christmas time. Her most prized possession, in this life, was her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed attending their activities and programs. Everyone loved having “Aunt Ivlue” at family parties because they knew she would be the life of the party. Her love and compassion will be forever imprinted in our hearts.

Even though many will miss her here on earth, we rejoice in the glorious reunion she is having with her husband and 2 boys. Ivlue was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Antonio and two sons; Joe Anthony “Tony” and Jay Lynn. She is survived by her daughter, Alena Danene Taylor (Kyle); brother Kent Bowen (Kathy) and sister Mary Kathlene Bowen.

A viewing will be held in her honor on Friday, October 19 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Midvale. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20th at 11:00 am with a viewing prior from 10:00-11:00 am at 87 East and 7100 South, Midvale. Interment at Crescent Cemetery, 11105 South State Street, Sandy.
