Alfred James Benais, age 83, of Red Lake, began his spiritual journey on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Corner Stone Residence in Kelliher, MN. He was born on July 7, 1934 in Red Lake, the son of Henry and Alice (Johnny) Benais. Alfred was a quiet private person.

He worked for the Red Lake DNR from 1997-2011 as a trapper and was stationed at the Red Lake Farm. Alfred loved the outdoors, trapping, fishing, hunting and visiting with his family and friends. The family that Alfred joins again are his wife; Roselynn King Benais, parents; Henry and Alice, brothers; Clarence Leonard Benais, Francis Littlejohn, and Ronald Littlejohn, sisters; Verna Redeagle, Mary Jane Cloud and Jenny, Delores Littlejohn, Carol Littlejohn, Joyce Littlejohn McArther and Doreen Littlejohn.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are brothers; Joe Benais and Herman Littlejohn, sisters; Judy Littlejohn and Darlene Littlejohn, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. A wake for Alfred will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Friday, April 27 all held at the New Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Clarence Neadeau, Clayton Benais, Jack Neadeau, George Benais, Randy Benais, and Will Tait. Alternate Pallbearer will be Lyle Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Pemberton, Jay Huseby, Dave Price, Sarah Ruffing, Herman Lussier, Pam May, Judy Littlejohn, Herman Littlejohn, and Jocko Thunder.

Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery following the service. Alfred’s care has been entrusted to the Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN. Online condolences for the family may be given at www.
