Alfred Schetlizki, 80, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven. He was born January 18, 1938 in Hamburg, Germany and raised by Richard and Alma Schimkat. He married Floris Klein on July 30, 1960 in Berrien Springs.

They shared 58 years in marriage. Alfred worked in many capacities for various businesses including National Foods, Kitchen Mart, Angelo’s Grocery, and Pier 1000 Marina. He loved Polka music, Chrysler cars, professional wrestling, classic western movies, babies, and animals of any kinds- especially his beloved cats – Mimi and Casper.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Johnathon Klein. He is survived by his devoted wife – Floris Schetlizki of Lawrence, children – Rick (Jodene) Schimkat of Kingman, Arizona, Roxanne (Jerry) Foster of Dardanelle, Arkansas, Randy Schetlizki of Coloma, Al Schetlizki of Coloma, Carmelita (Thomas) Beeching of Lawrence Tracey (Gina) Schetlizki of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren that he was so very fond of.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, at 10:30 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Lauri Timmer officiating. Alfred will be laid to rest at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shores. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guestbook at www.
