BEVERLY – Alice F. (Scanzani) Carrarini, 97, wife of the late Leo Carrarini, passed away after a short illness on October 8, 2018. A life-long resident of Beverly, she was born on January 25, 1921 in Beverly and was the daughter of the late Alfonso and Maria (Fabiani) Scanzani. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Beverly and was employed at GTE Sylvania and also was a long-term employee of Brown’s Super Market in Manchester-by-the-Sea where she amazed customers with her homemade… Read More » Italian meals from the deli department.

She spent the last five years of her life living with her daughter, Gail and son-in-law, Martin Balboni, in West Springfield, MA. Although she always missed Beverly, she was quite happy with her new home and surroundings. She loved spending time on the front porch where she was constantly reading, knitting, or sweeping the leaves away.

However, her most favorite place in the house was the kitchen where she was always washing dishes and cleaning. She was a very religious person and loved her Catholic religion. She rarely missed Mass and she was always saying her rosary.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Balboni and her husband, Martin of West Springfield; her son, Robert Carrarini and his wife, June of Beverly; five grandchildren; Carlo Balboni and his wife, Rebekah of California, Mathew Balboni and his wife, Laurie of West Springfield, Nicholas Balboni and his wife, Tara, of Russell, Erin Palica and her husband, Michael of Marshfield and Brian Carrarini and his wife, Devon of Beverly and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Donations in her name may be made to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul or to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Beverly.
