Aloma D. (Heidemann) Badertscher was born February 15, 1931 to Ernest and Esther (Baucke) Heidemann at Elk Creek, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and attended St. Peter’s Parochial School through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Eldon L. Badertscher on June 2, 1949 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
To this union five children were born. They made their home west of Tecumseh where they raised their family and Aloma was Eldon’s right-hand helper on the farm. Aloma always raised a large garden and loved gardening, (as long as there were no snakes), her flowers, cats, quilting, her parakeets and cardinals, eating pie, (she loved having dessert first) and was a wonderful cook, especially her bread and sticky buns.
She was a hard- working home maker and farm wife and also worked in the kitchen at the Maple Grove home and for her son Randy at his butcher shop. Aloma always made lunch for the guys on the farm at 4:00. She and Eldon enjoyed traveling, antique shows, threshing bees, and going polka dancing.
Eldon passed away June 11, 2013. Aloma loved going to auctions, collecting antiques, making rhubarb wine and beer, watching her grandchildren, going gambling and was always very quick-witted. Aloma was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma.
