Wilfred “Willie” John Fiegener, 90, formerly of rural Shubert, Nebraska was born on May 3, 1928 in Westmoreland, Kansas to the late Godfrey and Caroline (Forst) Fiegener. He was raised on the family farm in various areas of southeast Nebraska and attended country school. At a young age, Willie helped farm with his father and brother.

He was a talented metal worker and could fix just about anything. This talent led to him owning his own blacksmith business in Dawson where he also served as Mayor. On November 28, 1962, Willie was united in marriage to Barbara Moenning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska.

The couple made their home on a farm east of Shubert where Willie farmed with his father for many years. In 1991, he sold the farm and moved with his wife to Utica, Nebraska. Willie continued his love of farming by working for local farmers where he helped farm and did welding jobs.

He and Barb moved to Humboldt in January of 2017 when they became residents of the Colonial Acres Nursing Home. Willie was a hard-working farm boy at heart who had a gentle soul and soft demeanor. He was rarely seen without wearing his favorite green jacket and hat.
