Alvania Fields Shepherd, 88 of Smoot Creek, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Alvania was the daughter of the late George and Abby Jane Boggs Fields. She was the widow of Astor Shepherd.

Surviving is 1 daughter: Barbara (Ben) Eldridge of Kingscreek; 1 son: Darrell Shepherd of Smoot Creek; special daughter-in-law: Patty Shepherd; grandchildren: Brian Eldridge, Byron Eldridge, Mike Shepherd, Missy Shepherd, Tammy Spencer, Natasha Shepherd, and Mark Thomas; 17 great grandchildren. Alvania was preceded in death by 3 children: Tony, Gary, and Deborah; 2 grandchildren: Christopher Engle and Tony Shepherd Jr.; 4 brothers: James, Willie, John, and Dave; 5 sisters: Georgia, Bell, Mazie, Cannie, and Clearenda. Funeral: 11:00 O’clock A.M. Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Ted Collins officiating.

Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.
