Andora C. Kinsey, age 93, of rural Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 5:30am at the Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio. Andora was born on February 12, 1925 in Lima, Ohio, to Leonid “Jack” and Bernice (Larick) Christensen, both of whom are deceased. She married Harold E. Kinsey on September 7, 1947 in the Nevada Lutheran Church, and he passed on May 11, 2013.
She is survived by 4 children, Cheryl (Ronald) Beier of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Diane (Nick) Wisda of Nevada, Michele (Allen) Halfhill of Bradner, and Curtis (Judie) Kinsey of Nevada. Andora also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Loren) Simpson, Nathan (Jeannie) Beier, Aaron (Janette) Beier, Andrew (Amanda) Wisda, Stacy Wisda, Sean (Elizabeth) Halfhill, Ryan (Hannah) Halfhill, Troy (Deanna) Halfhill, Brittany Bacosa, and Ashley Phillips. And 25 great grandchildren, Natashia (Daniel) Simpson, Andoria Simpson, Jesstinia Simpson, Krystyna Beier, Shelbi Crees, Skyler Crees, Maggie Wisda, Lucas Wisda, Alison Wisda, Aubrey Halfhill, Jackson Halfhill, Isabel Halfhill, Kinsey Halfhill, Samuel Halfhill, Ellie Beier, Darien Beier, Brynn Beier, Isaac Harold Beier, Scarlett Coleman, Joslyn Coleman, Juliet Coleman, Ayden Hoover, Amiya Lee, Arionah Bascosa, and Ashton Bacosa.
She is also survived by her 2 sisters, Sonja Miller of Bucyrus, and Janet Theis of New Riegel, a sister in law, Doris Christensen. Andora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Dale and Harold Christensen, a granddaughter in law, Jana Beier. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nevada Lutheran Church, where she served as the church secretary for 21 years.
She was a member of the Nevada Lioness Club and the Nevada Lions Club. A charter member of the Wyandot Garden Club and Town and Country Mothers League. She was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Nevada and a past Girl Scout Leader, along with the Wyandot Tracers, where her genealogy place her family as some of the First Family of Ohio and a First Family of Wyandot County.
For hobbies, Andora enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, where she made birth announcements and a picture for each grandchild and great grandchildren, camping and reading. She also loved to travel and was able to visit all 50 states, most of the Canadian Provinces, as well as being able to visit family in Norway, Sweden and France. She will be remembered for her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family was her life and she cherished all of them. She will be sadly missed, but not forgotten, for her memory and legacy lives on in them. Funeral services for Andora Kinsey will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Nevada Lutheran Church, with Rev.
Tim Nilsen officiating. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, October 23, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada, and 1 hour before service time on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Nevada Lutheran Church or Lion’s Club International Foundation.
