OBITUARY Anibal V. Tavares May 30, 1938 – July 23, 2018 Anibal V. Tavares, age 80, of Acushnet, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2018. He was the husband of Maria (Pacheco) Tavares. Born in Sao, Miguel, Portugal, a son of the late Manuel Rebelo and Maria Da Conceicao (Viana) Tavares, he immigrated to America in 1972 Mr. Tavares worked at Aerovox for many years before retiring.

He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife survivors include: three sons, Richard Tavares and his wife Denise of East Taunton, Anibal Tavares, Jr. and his wife Christine of Taunton and Daniel Tavares and his wife Heather of Fruit Cove, Florida; four grandchildren, Rachel Colwell, Jennifer, Alexandra and Emilia Tavares; one great granddaughter, Bryanna Ferris; one sister, Maria do Rosario Tavares; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jose, Manuel, Domingos, Luis and Eduino Tavares.

His funeral will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. , New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Ave. , New Bedford.

Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours, Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
