Obituary for Ann L. Hopkins Rye – Ann Lebreck Hopkins, 68, of Rye, passed away peacefully at her home on January 1, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Ann was born on October 19, 1950 in Lawrence, MA to Arthur and Mary Lebreck. She grew up in Andover, MA and attended St. Augustine School as well as Presentation of Mary Academy.
Ann earned her Bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Massachusetts and went on to receive her Masters in Higher Education from Cambridge College. She worked in admissions and served as the Director of Development at Cambridge College. Ann worked as a consultant to non-profit organizations throughout New England for over 20 years helping them to plan, support and carry out their missions.
Ann was a founder of the seacoast chapter of Family Promise in Exeter, NH, an organization that helps to house and empower families with children experiencing homelessness. She served in many volunteer capacities, including board president for over five years. In appreciation for her time and devotion, Seacoast Family Promise is dedicating their new headquarters in Exeter to Ann, naming it the “The Ann Hopkins Day Center”.
As an active member of her local community, Ann was a member of the Women’s Spirituality Group of Rye. She was passionate about music, dance, and theatre and was a proud member of Voices from the Heart of Portsmouth, NH for twenty years. A devoted wife and loving grandmother, Ann is survived by her husband Greg Hopkins; step-children, Charles Asadoorian of Methuen, MA, Kristan S. Hopkins of North Andover, MA, his wife Corina and their two children Carly and Andrew; Darren T. Hopkins of North Andover, MA, his wife Felicia and their two children Ellery and Max.
She also leaves behind her five sib-lings, Mary E. Kelley of New Brunswick, NJ; Patricia A. Cundari and her husband Lawrence of Alexandria, VA; Michael J. Lebreck and his wife Pamela of Lakeville, MA; Arthur G. Lebreck and his wife Maryanne of Trumbull, CT, and Jane E. Lebreck of South Portland, ME, as well as her eleven nieces and nephews who she adored. Visiting hours will be held be from 3 to 7 p.m. followed by a brief memorial service, on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH.
