Anna’s Obituary Anna Geraldine (Grimm) Cain, 97, of Williamstown WV passed away peacefully on April 10, 2019 at her home, comfortably seated in her favorite chair. She was born on Sept 12, 1921 in Creston, the middle child of the late Clyde Grimm and Lora Maude (Tucker) Grimm McGinnis. Jerry attended elementary school near Hill Grove Baptist Church in Wirt County.
She was a championship archer, worked at Fire Stone in Akron, OH during WW II and was a real live “Rosie the Riveter”. Because of her tiny stature, she was able to climb into the tips of the wings of airplanes and weld the final solders in place. After WW II was over and her husband Albert (Jack) came home, she spend her time as a homemaker.
She loved baking and trying new recipes. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and playing cards with friends and family, and had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything – toasters, plumbing, electrical outlets. She would figure out a way to keep things working – and without the use of Youtube!
Most enjoyable for Jack and Jerry was camping at Mine No 4 on the Elk River. Many hours were spent fishing, camping and hiking in the woods. Both Jack and Jerry loved being outdoors – gardening, hunting, fishing, hiking.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer, 63 from Lansdowne PA and 6 grandchildren; Kurt (Amy) Cain-Walther of Philadelphia PA; Sherry Cain-Walther of Lansdowne PA; Mark Cain-Walther of Portland Ore; Mary Cain-Walther of Woodlyn PA; Carla (Nathaniel) Cain-Walther of Brooklyn NY; and Melissa Cain-Walther of Lansdowne PA. Geraldine has two beautiful great granddaughters; La’Niiyah , age 13 and Na’Leiya, age 9 who live with their mother (Mary) in Woodlyn PA. Two very special couples need to be acknowledged here because they are considered extended family.
Decker and Kathy Moody of Williamstown were dear and special neighbors. For many years they visited and checked in on Geraldine every single day, mowing lawns, bringing food, chatting on the carport, helping bring in groceries. Their kindness is greatly appreciated by the family.
Shirley and Ray Keith of Boaz are also considered extended family as they are long time friends of both Jack and Jerry – going hunting, hiking for as long as dad could, sharing stories and church events. After Jack’s passing in 2008, they remained dearly loved by Jerry and were the last ones to visit her before her passing. Once again, this means more than can be expressed in words.
Her husband Albert (Jack) Cain preceded her in death at age 92 in 2008. She had, two grandchildren who likewise preceded her in death; John Cain Walther, age 7, who passed away in 1992 and Lora Cain-Walther , age 13, who passed away in 2002. Her older, brother Ernest and younger sister, Irene also preceded her in death.
