Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Anna Swainston Condie passed away on November 1, 2018 in Preston, Idaho of heart failure at the age of 104. She was born on April, 3, 1914 on the family farm in Winder, Idaho. Anna graduated from the Preston Academy and attended the Utah State Agricultural College.

In 1936 she married Wilford Paul Condie in the Logan Temple. They built a home in Preston, Idaho and farmed until Paul’s death in 1982. Anna’s life spanned more than a century.

She witnessed many changes in the world about her and adapted and changed with it. She said she was the last leaf on the tree. As her friends passed away, she made new, younger friends and always welcomed them and enjoyed their visits.

As age took its physical toll, she was grateful to neighbors and friends who willingly helped her remain in her home past the age of 103. As her eyesight declined and finally went out, she ingeniously found ways to manage the tasks of living without the benefit of sight. She was gifted at creating poetry and used this time to compose poems, mostly about her life experiences with insights into how to live.

She had a phenomenal memory, never forgetting a line of her poetry. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was always faithfully active, serving in may capacities throughout her life. She often expressed her desire to endure to the end and she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, parents, William and Harriet Swainston, sisters Harriet Palmer, Wilma Bright, Laura Swainston and Lenora and Rosa who died in infancy, a daugher-in-law DeEsta Porter Condie and grandson Porter Condie. She is survived by a sister Viva Smith, her children Genene Hill (Dennis deceased), Rochelle Carlson (Carl), Rex Condie (Cecily), and Beverly Lippmann (Ken), fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Maureen Condie. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the Preston 9th Ward Chapel – 310 North State in Preston, Idaho.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 9th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Webb Mortuary – 1005 South 8th East – Preston, Idaho and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will be at the Preston Cemetery. The family wishes to express a special thanks to all the caregivers who have assisted and served Anna, special neighbors and friends for many years and more recently staff at the Heritage Assisted Living and Signature Hospice.
