Anthony Daniel Chiumenti, 98, of Avis, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Susque View Home Nursing & Rehabilitation. Anthony was born on Feb.

21, 1920, in Beech Creek Township, and was the son of Harry and Gertrude Hahn Chiumenti. Anthony was a graduate of the former Avis High School and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army as a corporal and a radio repairman. He retired from Woolrich Woolen Mills.

Anthony was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, the American Legion, in Avis, and the Sons of Italy, in Lock Haven. His father passed away when he was young and Anthony assumed the role to take care of his family. Later in life, he looked after his neighbors whenever they were in need of some help.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, with Father Bert Kozen officiating. Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery with military honors by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Welker Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. The family suggests that memorial donations in Anthony’s name be made to Jersey Shore Honor Guard, C/O James Stewart, 231 Oliver St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
