Anthony Tony R Cesario , September 30, 1942 — September 18, 2018

Anthony “Tony” R. Cesario, 75, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in Rome Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home. He was born on September 30, 1942 in Rome; a son of the late Anthony and Lillian Smith Cesario. Tony graduated from Camden High School and continued his education at Carnegie College in Ohio.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then with the United States Air Force and United States Air Force Reserves for a total of 20 years. Tony was employed by Rose Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and Griffiss Air Force Base as a X-Ray Technician. He also was the owner and operator of T.C. Building & Contracting and was known for his wonderful craftsmanship in building and renovations.

Tony was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Arthur S. Moran Post 66 American Legion in Camden. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus of Rome. Tony truly enjoyed his work over the years and was a Jack of all trades.

He loved being with his family and friends. Tony adored his children and grandchildren and will always be remembered as “Papa Tony”! He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Angeline; three daughters, Clarissa Sorrentino of AZ, Michelle Cesario and Paul Mantelli, Jr. of Sherrill, and Lisa Cesario and David Carello of Sylvan Beach; four cherished grandchildren, Arianna Sorrentino, Mariano Sorrentino, Gianna Mantelli, and Paul Mantelli, III; a sister, Carol Reddington of Camden; two nieces, Denise and Wayne Plourde and Carrie and Joe Bolton; and several cousins and in-laws.

Tony was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Kline and a brother, Joseph Cesario. Mr. Cesario’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Abe Esper.

Interment with military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the Gulla Funeral & Cremation Services, 209 N. Washington St., Rome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Kelberman Center, 2608 Genesee St., Utica, New York 13502 or St. John the Baptist Church (Basement Renovation Fund), 210 E Dominick St., Rome, NY 13440.
