Anthony “Tony” W. Murray, 69, of Newport, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at his home. His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Jack Mumford.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Murray, of the home; daughters, Suzanne Peterson and husband, Gene, of California, Ronda Nixon of Newport, Lanee Kirby and husband, Jeff, of Greensboro; sons, Michael Murray of Floyd, VA, Bobby Murray and wife, Kelly, of Floyd, VA, Jamie Nixon and wife, Tabitha, of Bogue, Jonathan Nixon of Newport; grandchildren, Dean Murray and wife Jackie, Christina Murray and wife Laura, Emily Murray, Kyle Peterson, Erin Peterson, Claire Peterson, Tony Murray, Nikki Murray, Joey Murray, Chad Nixon, Roney Malone and wife Rebekah, Haley Hicks, Asher Nixon, Selah Nixon, Brantlee Nixon; great-grandchildren, Katie Murray, Paislei Hill, Roney Malone, Mia Hicks; and niece, Trishe Rife. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Murray; mother, Margaret Lewis; sister, Marsha Cavendish; and cousin and best friend, Dennis Smith. Family will receive friends following the memorial service on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
