Arlene Lamfers, of Ashton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley. Memorial Services will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 5:30 P.M. at the Ashton Bible Church in Ashton, Iowa. Rev.

Dan Kunnari officiating. Graveside Services will be Tuesday, February 19, at 2:00 P.M. at Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 19, prior to the Memorial Service from 4:15 to 5:15 P.M. with the family present, at the Ashton Bible Church.

Arlene Ann Lamfers March 2, 1935 ~ February 15, 2019 Arlene, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Mickelson) Ostrem of Bigelow, Minnesota was the oldest of five children. Around the age of five, the family moved to a farm near Okabena. She attended a country school and Okabena High School, graduating in 1952.

Arlene attended college in Mankato for a short time before returning to the farm and going to work for two years with her mother at Campbell Soup Company in Worthington. She met and married her husband, John R. Lamfers of Ashton, Iowa on December 19, 1957. From this union three sons were born.

The last one passing away soon after birth. Later a daughter was adopted. Arlene was a very caring mother and attentive to her children’s needs and a very good mom.

She loved flowers, music, reading, and taking her children fishing. She enjoyed socializing with friends, family, and those who stopped by to buy eggs and catch up on the latest goings on. She was always active, planted a big garden, canned everything and was a good cook.

She made sure to always have plenty. She loved to bake, especially at Christmas and made peanut brittle and divinity for all. Arlene was very active in the ladies aide at church and teaching Sunday School and Bible School.

In the later years, she worked as a cook, housekeeper and home health aide. When her health declined, she settled in the Sibley Specialty Care where she resided until her passing on Friday, February 15, 2019. Those left to cherish her memories are John Lamfers, Tim Lamfers and Terri Meyer; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandi (Ron) Dickson; 3 brothers, Verlyn (Brenda) Ostrem, Ronald (Lora) Ostrem, and Douglas (Patricia) Ostrem.

She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Ricky Lamfers and Curtis Lamfers; 2 granddaughters, Connie and Micalla; her parents, Helen and Albert Ostrem. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. May the Good Lord hold her close.
