Arthur’s Obituary MYERS Arthur “Guy” William Myers, of New Orleans, LA departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 12:30 a.m. Arthur was born May 18, 1949 in New Orleans, LA to Eugene and Cora M. Myers. After graduating from high school in 1984 Arthur joined the United States Army and served for 20 years as a Unit Supply Specialist and a Subsistence Supply Specialist, retiring December 1992 at Ft. Hood, Texas.

During his military tenure, he acquired distinguished decorations as the Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Army Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Southwest Asia Service Medal; Bronze Service Stars; Kuwait Liberation Medal and numerous other awards and medals. He was a true Gulf War Veteran. After his retirement, Arthur worked at Ft.

Hood’s PX until he became ill in 2013. He then moved to New Orleans and was cared for by his sister, Joan M. Coats until his passing. Arthur leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sister and caregiver, Joan M. Coats, sisters: Melvina Kelly, Okley Poole (Lionel), Jessie Jolla (Daniel), Rachel Videau (John, Jr), Brothers: Wilbert Myers (Ida), Allen Myers (Connie) of Killeen, Texas, Nero Myers, Gretna, LA, Aunt, Lee Green of Dinwiddie, VA; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Nephews, Cousins other relatives and friends.

Arthur is preceded in death by his Mother, Cora Marie Joseph Myers; Father, Eugene Myers; Grandmother, Pearl “Mag” Marie Hickman; Grandfather, Chris Turner; Brother, Godfrey Blucher, Brother-in-Law, Willie “Dunie” Coats, Niece, Devona Marie Coats, Aunt, Cora Ernestine Hickman, and Uncle, Arthur Green, Jr. Guy, “you will be very sadly missed by your family and friends”! Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Homes, Inc., 2120 Jackson Ave. , New Orleans, LA 70113 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon.

Followed by Funeral Services at 12:00 noon. Interment on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA. You may sign the guest book on www.
