OBITUARY Arvil “Bud” Laws October 15, 1928 – July 26, 2018 Arvil “Bud” Laws, 89, of Greeneville, the Greystone community, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Laughlin Health Care Center. He was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, which he loved and attended as long as his health permitted. Bud had an avid love of family, friends, church, fishing, bluegrass and bear hunting, of which he was a member of Bear Hunters Hall of Fame.

He served in the U. S. Army and later was employed by the U.S. Forestry Service for many years. There he developed many lasting friendships. After retirement, he enjoyed camping with “Mama” and family, going to church, gardening and hunting.

He will be missed by family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years: Mary Sue “Dude” Laws; a daughter: Kathy Lawing; two sons and daughters-in-law: Benny and Jeanne Laws, Kevin and Lynette Laws, all of Greeneville; grandsons: Brendon Lawing and wife, Karen and Josh Lawing, all of Greeneville; great grandchildren: Jake and Jesse Lawing, Jaci Lawing; sisters: Retha Hopson and Alice Collins; sisters-in-law: Wanda Jennings and husband, Reed, and Agnes Harrison; brother-in-law: Joe Harrison (whom Bud thought of as a brother and who stood by to help until Bud’s death);and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the son of the late Charlie and Pearl Laws and was preceded in death by a sister: Fostine Williams; brother and sister-in-law: Junior and Roma Lee Reaves; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lamon and Ruth Harrison; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Raven Hopson, J. R. Williams, Jay Collins, Roy and Jetta Hopson, Leon Harrison, Reiben and Ted Harrison, Denta and Everett Whitson, and Wilma Harrison.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. Following visitation, the funeral service will be held at 8 pm Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Rev.

Dolphus Cutshaw, Rev. Roger Stockton, Rev. Tracey Jones and speaker, Gil Massie will officiate.

Interment will be at 2 pm Sunday in Gethsemane Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 pm Sunday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the committal service. Pallbearers will be Benny Laws, Kevin Laws, Brendon Lawing, Josh Lawing, Jake Lawing, Jesse Lawing, Jaci Lawing, Dean Cutshaw, Jeff Jennings and Johnny Reaves.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Lynn Mercer, Rev. Jerry Hopson, Rev.

Jay Hugh Jennings, Genevieve Harrison, Howard Shaw and Denver Shaw, Nadine Hopson, Judy Harrison, Grover and Carol Gosnell, Gary Lawing, Chasity Burdine, Carl Jackson, his nieces and nephews, his TN and NC hunting buddies, his bluegrass friends, his friends and caregivers at Laughlin Health Care Center, co-workers at U. S. Forestry Service, and members of Greystone FWB and Gethsemane UM Churches. The family would like to thank his friends and caregivers at Laughlin Health Care Center for the care given Bud for many years.
