Cook September 18, 1924 – January 11, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Audrey Lorraine Cook age 94 left this life on January 11, 2019 at Gardesideside Nursing Home. She was born on September 18th 1924 to Zelma (Watts) Cook and Joseph E. Cook in Fairbury. She graduated from Fairbury High School.

She worked in Washington DC for a few years before moving back to Lincoln,Nebraska where she worked for Cengas until her retirement. At that time she moved back to Fairbury to live and care for her mother until her death. Audrey never married but her life was always full with her 10 nieces and nephews and all their activities.

She loved to play cards and table games, travel with family and participate in all family activities. She liked to take photos to document these activities. Audrey will be remembered by family as the aunt that would load up 3 or 4 of her nieces and nephew in her car and head out for the Black Hills of South Dakota when they were young children.

She entertained them for overnights in her apartment in Lincoln or would bring them to Grandma’s house for weekends. She was always a good time for the kids. She is survived by Nieces Kathy Cook of Beatrice Ne.

Gayle Devine of Omaha, Shirley Moses (Mike) of Columbus Ohio, Jan Krakow(Tom) of Fairbury, Jill Wright (Terry) Spring, Texas, nephews David Cook (Jessie) of Haysville Kansas, Dennis Cook (Laura) of Derby Kansas, sister-in-law Myrna Burns (Bill) of Haysville, Kansas and many great and great great nieces and nephew’s. She is preceded in death by her parents: brothers and sister-in-laws, Gerald and Helen Cook, Joseph Jr. and Donna Cook and Darrell Cook. Nephew’s Joseph Cook III, Darrell Cook, and Douglas Cook.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church Services will be Wednesday January 16, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury, with Lana Likens officiating. Burial at the Fairbury Cemetery – Fairbury, NE.
