Peyton’s Obituary Peyton Lyle VanWesten, son of Jay and Staci (Zoubek) VanWesten was born in Fairbury Nebraska on April 15, 2002, departed from his life on March 24, 2019 in Lincoln, Nebraska from the result of injuries caused by a car accident at the age of 16 years, 11 months, and 9 days. He was baptized on May 5, 2002 by Pastor Keith Pearson and confirmed on April 24, 2016 by Pastor Connie Raess at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Daykin. Peyton was currently a junior at Meridian Public School.

Peyton loved sports and the outdoors. Baseball and Basketball were his favorite. He was proud to be the starting quarterback for Meridian.

Some of the best times of his short life was hunting and fishing with his grandpa Larry. Grandpa would be by his side when he shot his first deer and turkey. They would keep each other company fishing for catfish late into the night.

Peyton always looked out for the younger kids at school. He always kept his teachers on their toes and his classmates in stiches with his jokes and smart remarks. He was an officer with the Meridian FFA Chapter.

Peyton was selected to participate in Cornhusker Boy’s State. Out of school, Peyton loved to work on his pickup and just drive around. He loved to help his dad and brother work on anything mechanical.

Peyton loved to go camping with his mom. Peyton was a giving person and even in death, Peyton will give life to many people through his organ donations. Peyton was preceded in death by grandparents Donavon and Anna Marie VanWesten.

He is survived by his parents, Jay and Staci; brother Jakub; grandparents Larry and Doris Zoubek; aunts and uncles Jim (Ellen) VanWesten, Jean (Lynn) Smith, Roger VanWesten, Bob (Deb) VanWesten, Donna (John) Rut, Peggy (Mark) Niederklein, Ellen ( Mike) Long, Glenn (Tallie) VanWesten, Carla (Doug) Hoins, Jodi (Randy) Meyer, Missi (Mark) Rohr: 34 cousins and 27 second cousins; and by many other family members and friends. Services will be Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Meridian High School, Daykin, NE. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 – 6 p.m. at Meridian High School and the Family will greet friends there from 3 – 5 p.m. Memorials will go to the Family’s Choice.

Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
