Mr. Banks Waddell Fitch, 99, of Burlington, NC, passed away on February 5, 2019, while in Crozet, VA, where he lived with his daughter, Charlotte and son-in-law, Dennis who became his caregivers when he could no longer stay at his home in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, he was born on November 25, 1919. He was united in marriage to Mary Gee Squires on January 26, 1946 and was a loving and caring husband and father to Mary and their “three girls”, Charlotte, Janice and Cathy.

He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during World War II. He was a certified master welder and spent his career performing this work both professionally and personally as he also enjoyed creating and repairing all types of items for others. It was often said that “if it can be made out of stainless, then Banks can weld it”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gee Fitch and his brother, Earl Fitch. Surviving are his daughters Charlotte Elaine Fitch and husband Dennis Yutchishen of Crozet, VA, Janice Fitch Curtis of Glen Allen, VA, and Cathy Fitch Dickens and husband Mike Dickens of Hookerton, NC. He is also survived by his granddaughter Lauren Yutchishen and husband John Stinnette, both in the United States Navy and currently stationed in Bahrain.

The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham, NC, on Saturday, February 16, 2019, from 12:00 until 1:30. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington, NC. The family would like to thank everyone involved in Mr. Fitch’s care over the years and would especially like to thank Mr. Garry Wiley for his friendship and support.
