Barbara A. (Buck) Lariviere, 87, formerly of Methuen, Salisbury Beach, and Haverhill died peacefully on Thursday, March 7th surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born November 18, 1931 in Andover, Massachusetts to Annie and Elmer Buck. She graduated from Searles High School in Methuen, Massachusetts in 1949.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Edward A. Lariviere. They were married February 14, 1953 at Saint Monica Parish in Methuen, while Edward was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Donna and her husband Dennis Robichaud, her son Leonard and his wife Elizabeth Lariviere, her daughter Lynne and her husband Michael Lowrey, her sister-in-law, Jacquelyn and her husband Frederick Faulkner, several nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Barbara enjoyed touring with her husband to Ireland, the mountains, the ocean and the Caribbean. She especially relished time with our Irish cousins traveling back and forth to Ireland. She loved giving each grandchild and great grandchild her undivided attention and making them feel special and important-leaving memories that will be with them forever.

As matriarch of our family, she instilled in us the importance of family support, staying together in good and difficult times, and having strong family values. Barbara held closely her Catholic values to her children and devotion to Holy Angels Parish being involved in volunteering, Ladies Guild and Mercy Meals. She sang in the choir at St. John the Baptist Church of Haverhill and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Methuen.

She was known to many for her beautiful soprano voice. She was also involved in the Women’s City Club of Haverhill. She was gifted at quilting, crocheting and knitting.

She developed many friendships wherever she lived and worked. Barbara enjoyed her time working for the Methuen School District as a bookkeeper for several years and as an executive secretary to the fire chief at the Central Fire Station in Methuen. The Lariviere family is very appreciative of the loving care our mother received from Mary Immaculate and Merrimack Valley Hospice.
