Barbara Dolores Krider September 28, 1930 – February 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Barbara Dolores Krider, 88, of rural Columbia City died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City where she was admitted on Thursday. She was born September 28, 1930 in Columbia City, Indiana a daughter of the late J. Raymond and Florence (Kyler) Messner. Her formative years were spent in Union Twp.

, Whitley County. She graduated from Coesse High School in 1949. On January 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Robert L. Krider.

They made their home in Fort Collins, CO as her husband served in the U. S. Air Force. After his discharge, the couple made their home in Union Twp. , Whitley County.

In addition to being a homemaker and farming with her husband, she worked for Farnsworth, Fort Wayne and Victor Gasket in Churubusco. In 1977, she joined her husband at Krider’s Meat Processing, Columbia City where she assisted with the operation. She enjoyed traveling with her husband both domestically and internationally including Bangkok, Thailand, Alaska, and Hawaii.

She liked crossword puzzles, gardening and playing cards. She had an extensive collection of clocks and elephant figurines. She was a 50-year member of the Col.

Augustin de la Balme chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Mizpah Hillbilly Clan 95. She is survived by her husband, Bob; a son, Randall S. (Sherry) Krider, Columbia City; grandchildren, Shelby Krider and Kevin Krider both of Columbia City. Additionally, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Dailey and Katherine Chaffins.

The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is in the South Park Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or the Col. Augustin de la Balme chapter of the DAR.
