Barbara Elaine Marshall October 15, 1963 – January 31, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Barbara Marshall, age 55 of Springfield, MO, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019, at the Broadway Living Center in Lexington, OK. Barbara Elaine Burris was born October 15, 1963, in Pampa, TX, one of three children and the middle child of Harold Ray Burris and Ruth Elaine (Giddens) Burris. She spent her early childhood in Texas.

The Burris family eventually settled in Midwest City, OK. Barbara married Gary Marshall and they made their home in Springfield, MO. Together they raised four children, daughters Amy, Angela and Amber and son, Andrew.

Barbara worked tirelessly as a homemaker caring and providing for her family. She loved the Lord and was very involved in her children’s activities, and particularly in the Girl Scouts where she served as a Troop Leader. She also had a strong love for horses.

Barbara’s life would change course with a diagnosis of Huntington’s disease, a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain, therefore deteriorating a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years. She was moved to Lexington where she could receive appropriate care in her final years. In spite of her failing health, Barbara remained positive and enjoyed each minute of every day.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed! She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Harold and Ruth Burris.

Barbara is survived by: Her son, Andrew Marshall of Springfield, MO; Daughters, Amy Raunborg and husband Chad of OKC, OK, Angela Thiele and husband Easton of Springfield, MO and Amber Holmes and husband Jonathan of Norman, OK; Brother, Bryan Burris of Glendale, CO; Sister, Beverly Bryant of Springfield, MO; Six grandchildren, And a host of other family and friends.
