Obituary for Barbara H. Kelsheimer Barbara Kelsheimer, age 83, passed away suddenly June 24, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gosport Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas.

Memorials are requested to the Melcher-Dallas Fire Department. Barbara was born September 12, 1934 near Columbia, Iowa to Evert and Olive Godfrey Bingham. She went to country school and then to Melcher High School where she graduated in 1953.

After high school she worked at Aetna Insurance in Des Moines before marrying Roger Kelsheimer on May 29, 1958. They were blessed with two girls, Cindy and Tammy. Although she never worked outside the home after marrying, she stayed very busy creating a home for her family.

The girls commented on how she only missed one day of not greeting them when they came home from school. She enjoyed working in the garden and canning for her family. She enjoyed lilacs, cardinals, and hummingbirds.

She loved fresh snow and thunderstorms, often getting the girls out of bed to go walk in the fresh snow early in the morning. Barbara always felt blessed by having all granddaughters and loved to do crafts, reading, puzzles, board games, cards, decorating the Christmas tree and keeping up with all their activities. She also loved to cook and had an amazing collection of cookbooks.

Preceding her in death were her parents: Evert and Olive Bingham; in-laws, William and Ethel Kelsheimer; son-in-law, Arnie Mahrt; granddaughter, Shelly Klages; and siblings: Irvin Bingham and Betty Waters. Surviving are her husband, Roger Kelsheimer; daughters: Cindy (Barry) Klages and Tammy Mahrt; grandchildren: Jamie Harvey, Mandy (Brett) Klages, Laura Gale, Leslie (Nick) Smith, Madison Klages, and Nettie Mahrt; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Fonda) Bingham; and many relatives and friends.
