Barbara J. Murphy, 91, of Wooster, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Brett Durham officiating.

Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www. RobertsFuneralHome.com.

Memorial contributions may be made the animal rescue of the donor’s choice. Barbara was born January 30, 1927 in Akron to Frank W. and Jessie {Thorn} Durden. She married Cecil Murphy on December 2, 1944.

He passed away on July 16, 2008. Barb was a Jill of all trades; including chief biscuit maker, hairdresser, calf farmer, construction planner, business owner of Triway Drive Thru, dog breeder, and supervisor of all. She stitched many quilts, cooked lots of family meals, played the occasional “pi-anna,” sealed copious canning jars, played numerous hand of cards and tilled umpteen gardens.

Barb loved her Thanksgiving trips to South Carolina with Nancy and Gordon. She was also well known to help many. Barbara will be deeply missed by her children Richard L. (Connie) Murphy of Wooster and Debra Murphy-Kesling of Doylestown; grandchildren Lorie Paratto, Wendy (Jim) Yungen, Stephen (Jennifer) and Nathan (Cheryl) Murphy, Jessica (Erik) Stefanacci and Gerrad Kesling, B.J. (Marke) Moore; great-grandchildren Kaetlyn Paratto, Kevin Calame, Cohl Yungen, Joshua Wilson, Alex Murphy, Reiley Murphy, Kealey (Daniel) Bricker, and McKenna Moore; great great-grandson Beau Calame; and family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, son Cecil “Bud” Murphy, granddaughter Jessica Jeneen Murphy, brother Jack Durden, and sister Betty Ann Durden. The family is most grateful for the years James Murphy spent with Barb on Wednesday’s doing errands and taking her out to eat. They would also like to give a special thanks to the staff of Home Instead and Donna Eagle for the quality and heartfelt care Barb received.
