BARBARA LANE ELLIS HICKS age 78, of 1585 Red Oak Drive, Roxboro, NC died Saturday night, December 8, 2018 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Mrs. Hicks was born August 9, 1940 in Granville County, NC, daughter of the late Julius Garland & Thelma Mae Weaver Ellis and was wife of the late James Edward Hicks. She was a homemaker and was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Henderson, NC.

Surviving are two sons, J.R. Elliott (Juanita) of Durham, NC, Tony Travis (Debbie) of Henderson, NC, grandson, James Joseph Elliott of Ft. Hood, TX, sister, Nancy Rose of Oxford, NC, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hicks is preceded in death by three sisters, Ida Lou Hicks, Ann McCormick, Rebecca Matthews, two brothers, W.T. Ellis, J.B. Ellis, and grandson, Jeremiah Elliott.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jesse Matthews, Jonathan Matthews, Joshua Matthews, Scott Matthews, Chris Rose, and Pete Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Ellis and Ray Gentry.
