OBITUARY Barbara LaPrade June 26, 1934 – July 12, 2018 Barbara Perkins LaPrade was born on June 26th 1934 in Donna, TX to WW Perkins and Jewel Sharp Perkins. She went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2018. She was 84 years old.

Barbara attended Donna High School where she was a twirler, Drum Majorette, member of the tennis team, FFA Sweetheart, and Homecoming Queen. After graduation she met and married the love of her life, Bennie Joe LaPrade. She loved and supported him and his career until his death in ‘76.

She worked at Hales Bradford and Allen as a receptionist for many years until her retirement. She loved the people and town of Donna where she was born and lived most of her life. She showed her love by helping and serving others while never asking for anything in return.

She was a member of FUMC in Donna for many years and later attended Oakwood Church in New Braunfels. She has a deep faith that helped support her throughout her life. Her friends and family were very dear and special to her, in fact, faith family and friends were what mattered most to her.

She later moved to Tomball where she continued to show her heart of a servant by helping the other residents in her home until she was no longer able to do so. She is preceded in death by her parents, WW Perkins and Jewel Sharp Perkins, her husband Bennie Joe LaPrade, son Darryl Jay LaPrade, brother Elmo Perkins and sister Louise Roberson. She is survived by her son B. Guy LaPrade and his wife Elaine, daughter Brenda LaPrade Frank and her husband Kevin, sister Marybelle Gernentz, and brother Larry Perkins and his wife Janette.

Grandchildren include Zachary and Ashley LaPrade, Eric and Jennifer LaPrade, Bennie and Melanie LaPrade, Lauren Frank, and Taylor and Nathan Anderson. Great grandchildren include Silas, Tobias, and Oscar LaPrade. Psalm 73:23-26 Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.

You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to honor and glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.

My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the rock and strength of my heart and my portion forever. Honorary Pallbearers will be Guy LaPrade, Zachary LaPrade ,Eric LaPrade, Bennie LaPrade, Kevin Frank, Nathan Anderson, Larry Perkins The family and friends are invited to a fellowship in celebration of Barbara’s life at 9:30. Funeral services will begin at 10:00am In lieu of flowers to make a contribution to Alzheimer’s association or Oakwood Church in New Braunfels Texas.
