Barbara McFarland January 12, 1940 – May 05, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mrs. Barbara McFarland, 79, of Whitestown, passed away May 5, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. Barbara was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Bowling Green, KY, a daughter of the late Vone and Mae Belle (Gott) Smith.

She married Ralph McFarland on Sept. 6, 1958. He preceded her in death.

Barbara worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years. She loved quilting, reading, cooking, and gardening. Barbara was a member of the New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown.

Survivors include her sons, Shawn McFarland of Indianapolis and Randy (Charlotte) McFarland of AZ; daughters, Cindy Lemoine of Lebanon and Dorothy (Matt) Burney of Whitestown; brother, Jerry “Snuffy” (Alma) Smith of Thorntown; sister, Linda Sue (Dick) Benham of FL; grandchildren, Griffin McFarland, Cody, Luke, and Jessica McFarland, and Blake Burney; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Isla, and Ellie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Smith. Family and friends will gather Fri.
