Barney Lee Addison March 11, 1968 – March 21, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Barney Leo Addison was born on March 11, 1968 to Barney Lee Ware and the late Arlara Addison at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Leo was educated in the public schools of New York City. As a young man growing up, Leo loved being in the park outside running, doing flips, and bike riding.

Leo had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and have fun. Leo loved telling stories. He loved Rap music and had music in his heart.

In the last few years of his life he especially showed a lot of love to his family whom he loved dearly. Leo became a member of the Nation of Islam in the early 90’s which had a profound effect on his life. While in the Nation of Islam, Leo did a variety of jobs including private security for Russell Simmons which helped him to travel the world.

Leo had a great compassion for his people. He spoke up wherever he saw injustices being done to people here and abroad. In the later years of his life he became a member of the Life Experience and Faith Sharing Community in East Harlem.

He participated in their monthly Men’s Spiritual Development Group and Leadership Study Day Ministry and also their Weekly Community Gatherings in East Harlem. Leo leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Barney Lee Ware; his stepmother, Geneva Ware; his son, Muhammed Addison; his brothers, Raymond and Charlene Addison, James Arthur and Karen Addison, Robert and Patricia Addison, and Bobby Moore and Christopher Ware; his sisters, Angela Addison, Michelle Moore Bentley, Latoya Miller, and Bennita Ware; his aunts, Mamie Lee Hurse, Louise Smith, and Betty Ware; his best friend, Vanessa Jones; godson, Nehemiah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
