Barbara Bryant January 02, 1951 – March 10, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook B- Barbara Louise Bryant was born on January 2, 1951 to the late Gerlene Bryant in Chester, South Carolina. At the tender age of four her mother relocated the family to New York City, where she attended elementary and secondary schools. She began working for Human Re Administrations and later met the father of her children and the love of her life, the late Sonny Powell.

A- Affectionate mother of three boys, her son, Troy Demetrius of NY (two sons which preceded her in death, Jeffrey Caprice and Derrick Andre’ Bryant) and grandmother of six beautiful grandchildren, Briana, Troy Jr., De’ Andre, Malaysia, and twins, Elijah and Emilee. R- Reliable in every sense of the word. Wherever she was needed she was there without hesitation.

As long as she could travel by Mass Transit, her response was “no problem”. She would be found at someone’s bedside or assisting in the kitchen for family Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. B- Believer in Jesus Christ.

She received the Lord Jesus as Savior in January of 1982. She was intrigued by the Word of God and desired to know and learn more daily. She introduced her sons to the Lord at a young age; and as a family, they became faithful members of Morning Star Full Gospel Assembly.

A- Anointed Preacher and Teacher. She served as a Minister, Sunday School Teacher, Usher and Outreach Leader at Morning Star Full Gospel Assembly, then under the leadership of Bishop Charles Henry Harris, Sr. R- Relentless in achieving her goals. She gave her all to things that mattered.

Her consistency showed in every area of her life; family, work, helping people and anything else her hands found to do. She was an absolute blessing who, prior to her illness, was unwavering in all her responsibilities. A- Abiding in His Grace.

When Barbara left the ministry, GOD never ceased in His love and mercy for her. She later returned to the GOD of her salvation, and fell in love with JESUS all over again. While in the hospital she would often say, “I just want to go home”.

Thank God, she is now home and resting… Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her son, Troy Bryant (Yadirys); one sister, Elder Susie Washington; two brothers, Vincent Bryant (Adrian) and Darryl Bryant (Pepper) all of New York; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
