Pearl McCall July 20, 1920 – March 03, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Pearl was born on July 20, 1920 to Grace and Charles Liggins in Harlem, New York on 119th Street. She had one brother, Charles Liggins, Jr. whom passed away in 2002. Pearl’s mother died when she was six months old.

Her father and his four sisters raised her and her brother together with numerous first cousins from their four aunties. Pearl was very close to her father whom she adored and respected. Her dad affectionately called her “Little Chickadee”.

Pearl graduated high school and subsequently gave birth to one child, Howard Charles Mays in 1938. Pearl married Oscar Mccall in 1961 in which there were no children from this marriage. Pearl’s only child Howard died in 1967 at the age of 29.

Pearl’s occupation was in retail. She was a sales clerk, accountant and customer service representative at high end department stores such as Bonbatela’s and Brooks Brothers for over forty years until she retired in 1982. Pearl was the most gracious host when she entertained her guest.

She made everyone feel welcome and at home. She took great pride in her appearance wherever she went. She was just as meticulous with her home; always fastidious, everything had to be in place and in order.

That was very important to her because she believed and would say “your home should have order and bring you peace when you enter it”. She enjoyed decorating her home and was masterful at it. Pearl was very conscientious of how she looked.

She always wanted to look her best at all times whether it was fixing her hair neat, polishing her nails (they always had to look perfect), applying jewelry or makeup. She made every effort to present her best self. Pearl enjoyed music and dancing, which was a joy to witness….

Pearl lived in the moment, she enjoyed herself and she really knew how to groove with the music. She also had a great sense of humor, could tell a good joke, enjoyed laughing and just having a good time. Pearl was a special woman to all those who knew and loved her and spent time with her.

She had such a beautiful spirit and will be greatly missed and forever remain in all of our hearts. Pearl leaves to cherish her loving memories: one granddaughter, Lisa Pearl Cullum; three great-grandsons, Robert L. Dallas, Jamel H. Dallas, and Omar C. Dallas; three great-great grandchildren, Miles S. Dallas, Oshyn C. Dallas, and Cora D. Dallas; daughters-in-law, Kelli J. Dallas and Sue-Mar Dawson-Dallas; two loving sisters from another mother, Eunice Peck and her son, Charles and Shirley; her devoted first cousin, Dr. Shirley J. Jones; a host of second, third and fourth cousins; and various relatives, friends, and acquaintances too numerous to mention.
