William Lee Davis January 05, 1945 – March 09, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook The Lord never told us that this world was our home, but He did send His son Jesus to die for our sins making it possible for us to gain eternal life. William Lee Davis also known as “Dada” by the kids and grandkids and “Willie” to others. He was born on January 5th, 1945 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late June and Mary Lena Davis.

William received his early education at Lincoln Public School and completed his education at Booker T. Washington High School in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. In the late 1960s, he completed a four-year enlistment with the United States Air Force. Shortly afterwards he met his beautiful wife to be, Sandra Lee, fell in love and got married.

In the early 70s, William and Sandra moved to New York City. William was a Commercial Truck Driver, he loved to drive and travel all across the United States. William always wanted a family and God blessed him and Sandra Lee with five beautiful children: Ricky, Lavonda, Brian, Marcus and Tashauna.

He loved to brag about ALL his family. His family accomplishments were his and he wanted everyone to know it. He was the father figure to many kids in the neighborhood, he was always there for his family, friends and neighbors.

Willie loved to have conversations with people, no matter where he traveled. He would always engage and attract the attention of others. Willie was simply a people’s person and made everyone special in their own way.

He was a positive, loving and encouraging person. William never worried about anything, always looked on the bright side of things and brought the sunshine with him. James 1:22 says, “…but be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”.

William was a doer of the word, his actions spoke louder than his words and he LOVED to talk. He had his own personal relationship with the Lord. In February of 2018 when he was diagnosed with cancer he had the same optimistic attitude always looking upward.

He fought a good fight and when it was his time he was ready to go home to be with the Lord. On March 9, 2019, God called William Lee Davis and he went to rest in his heavenly home. Cherishing his memories are: his wife, Sandra Lee Davis, Rocky Mount, NC; five children, Ricky Taylor (Tammy), Bronx, NY, Lavonda Davis, New York, NY, Brian Davis (Kizzy), Teaneck, NJ, Marcus Davis, Raleigh, NC, and Tashauna Davis “Daddy’s Little Girl”, Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Ricky Taylor, Jr. “Little Ricky”, Kayla Taylor “Kayla Koo Koo”, Morgan Taylor “MJ”, Brian Davis, Jr. “Boy Brian” and Kamryn Davis “Angel Face”; and one great-grandson, Julius Taylor “Ju Ju”.

William had five sisters-in-law, Patricia, Virginia, Peggy, Yvonne and the late Lillian “Reesa”; two cousins that were like his sisters, Cassandra and Vivian “Jean”; and a host of uncles and an aunt that preceded him, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, neighborhood children and other dear relatives and friends.
