Blondell Ishmeal-Pope April 17, 1939 – February 15, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Blondell Ishmeal was born on April 17, 1939 to Bertha Ishmeal and Joseph Blair in New York City. She attended Fashion Industries High School, in New York City where she graduated in 1957. Soon after graduating high school, she gave birth to her eldest child Sharon.

While raising her daughter, she took numerous odd jobs to pay for the city test. To no surprise she passed the test, and in 1958 she landed a position at Harlem Hospital Center as a Clerk Associate and worked her way up over the years. A couple of years later, she welcomed her youngest child Jasmine into the world.

In 2003, she married Roy Pope and they started a beautiful life together. If it wasn’t day trips to the casino, it was vacations all over. Together they’ve seen so many amazing views and shared even better memories.

She was a beautiful woman, mother, grandmother and so much more with a smile that could light up a room. She was a mom to any and everyone that she could be one to. If you needed a neighborhood watch, she was that as well.

Blondell leaves to mourn her: two children, Sharon and Jasmine; her grandchildren, Latoya, Channa, Ebony, Brianna, Dominique and Cali; her great-grandchildren, Loren, Christopher, Jayden and Eric Jr.; and a host of family and friends.
