Obituary for Barry L. Tompkins Barry L. Tompkins of Buckingham, PA passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was 77. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Kenneth and Claire (Wilkinson) Tompkins, Barry resided in Doylestown, PA before moving to Buckingham, PA in 2000.
Barry received a Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University in Business Administration and later a Masters Degree from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. He was formerly employed as the Vice President of Finance with NARCO Avionics of Ft. Washington, PA for 22 years, retiring in 1986.
Barry established his own painting and wallpaper hanging company until retiring in 2008. He was a former Philadelphia Fireman; attended Covenant Church of Buckingham, PA; served on the Board of the Fireside Community Association; enjoyed woodworking and constructing fine furniture for family members, gardening and growing his famous hot peppers. Barry was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed helping others, was a careful and thoughtful listener who delicately provided sought after advice.
He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Helen (Pera) Tompkins; devoted father of Suzanne (Richard) Coppola, Kristine (Tom) Walter; loving grandfather Erin (Vaughn) Perveiler, Alyssa Coppola, Jamie Walter and Breanne Coppola. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Church, 4000 Route 202, Doylestown, PA 18902. Service & Gathering time will be added by Monday 11/12/2018.
