Basil Halupke 83, of Binghamton, NY went to his heavenly home to be reunited with his wife and daughter, Thursday July 19, 2018. He was born November 12, 1934, in Childs PA. Basil was the son of the late Frank and Pauline Halupke.

Basil was employed for 37 dedicated years for New York State Department of Transportation as a construction equipment repair production control supervisor. Basil was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially the holidays, with Christmas being his favorite.

Basil enjoyed gardening, building, painting, fishing and hunting, He was known by all to be wearing his derby and cigar in hand, and for having a great sense of humor. Basil is survived by his three children Karen Zielewicz of Brackney, PA, Renee Burdick of Leland NC, and Basil Halupke of Wampsville, NY. Two son in-laws Richard Zielewicz and David Burdick.

Four grandchildren Johanna Belcher of Binghamton, NY, Jonathan Zielewicz of Brackney, PA, Danielle Burdick of Austin, TX, and Kristin Burdick of Westmont IL. Three great-grandchildren Jazlyn, Jaden and Meraki Burdick of Austin, TX. One sister, Evelyn Przybylski of Columbus, NJ.

One sister in-law Kay Shager of Binghamton, NY. Several nieces and nephews. Basil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Halupke whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage and heavens special needs daughter, Joanne Halupke.

Basil took wonderful care of her after the passing of his wife. A brother Michael Halupke, and four sisters Barbara Cerra, Mary Pascoe, Phyllis Kucharski, and Joanne Halupke. Basil will be truly missed by everyone that knew him.

Friends may call at the THOMAS J. SHEA Funeral Home Inc. 137 Robinson st. Binghamton, NY 13904 on Thursday from 4 until 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 9:30am at St. Paul’s Church 282 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901.

Burial Service will follow at Mother of Sorrows Cemetery on Finch Hill, Carbondale, PA. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Wasco and Dr. Michelle Boyle who cared for him over the years. Those wishing may consider contributions in his memory to st.
