Mr. Bay H. Clark, age 90, of Marion, passed away at his home Thursday, October 25, 2018 following a period of declining health. A native of Stoneham, MA, Bay was born on November 19, 1927 to the late Bay Clark and Elizabeth “Billie” Goode Clark. He entered the U. S. Marine Corps at the age of seventeen and served faithfully during World War II.

Upon discharge from the Marines he entered into Law School at Boston University from which he graduated with a Juris Doctorate. Moving to San Antonio, TX, he practiced law there for a while before moving to Anchorage, AK where he established a thriving law firm. It was there, too, that he met Lucia Fleites, the woman who would become his beloved wife of 59 years.

During their marriage they were fortunate enough to travel to almost every country in the world, spending months at a time intimately exploring the places they visited and getting to know the people at the grassroots level. Bay was a true renaissance man by any measure of the term. His ability to interact with all types of people was a hallmark of his character and was a personality trait that won him many friends over the years.

He was a staunch believer in the value of education and hard work and he personally assisted many of his family members in furthering their education, even going so far as to put some through medical school. In addition to his work in the field of law, he was a successful businessman in other ventures. Later in life his heart was in more simple pursuits and he loved working on his farm and raising cattle.

Bay leaves behind his loving wife, Lucia Fleites Clark; his niece, Rose Martin of Miami, FL; two nephews, Ricky Rodriguez and Rick Cano, both of Miami, FL; and great-niece and great-nephews, Robert and Natalie Cabieses and Richard and Ryan Cano. The family will receive friends at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. A service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Justin Zinn speaking.

Following the service the family will proceed to McDowell Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest. Military rites will be performed there by the U. S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
