Bobby Ray Bright, age 69, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of McDowell County, Bobby was born on November 20, 1948 to the late George and Sallie Bright. Bobby enjoyed working up wood for his woodstove, and listening to bluegrass music.

He was a good man, who loved and took care of his friends and family. He was a friend to all, having never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his life-long companion of 45 years Elaine Conner; a brother, Bill Bright; and a granddaughter, Amanda Bradley.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his four children, a daughter Angie Sisk (Darrell Wilson) of Marion, daughter Sherry Bradley and husband Barry of Mill Spring, a son Michael Conner of Mill Spring, and daughter Susan Revis and husband Kevin of Marion; sisters, Janette Kazee of Marion, Sue Carmer of Marion, Katie Calhoun of Marion, and brothers, Lee Bright of Marion, Daniel Bright and wife Pat of Jacksonville, FL, Charlie Bright of Black Mountain, and Stalkey Bright and wife Kathy of Marion; six grandchildren, Donald Sisk and wife Caroline of Marion, Devin Sisk (Mikaela) of Marion, Joseph Bradley (Shelbi) of Mill Spring, and Jackson, Lilly, and Madison Revis all of Marion; and three great grandchildren, Mason Moore, Jaxson Bradley, and Elaina Sisk. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home of Marion. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Rev Harry Kidd officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to CarePartners Hospice & Palliative Care McDowell at P.O. Box 25338, Asheville NC 28813. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
