Tony Dean McInturff, age 72, was born on April 1, 1946 in Asheville, NC to the late William Clayton McInturff and the late Thelma Smith McInturff. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, and was the recipient of many commendations, including the Bronze Star. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He was a loving husband, father and paw paw, and is survived by his loving wife, Patricia McInturff; a stepdaughter Kara Bennett Bonura and husband John of Marion, NC, stepsons G Andrew “Andy” Bennett and wife Janice of Fairview and is currently deployed to Iraq. W. Todd Bennett of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by stepson Brandon Lee Bennett on October 16, 2018.

His grandkids Lauren Ashley Bonura of Cary, NC and Haiden Ball of Marion, NC, Cody Bennett of Fairview, NC, Shane Bennett of New York, New York, Devon and Dominic Bennett of the home; sisters Judy Slagle and husband Lattie of Old Fort, Gloria Moody and husband Jim of Cherokee, NC, and Tim McInturff and wife Karen of Marion, NC; and many, many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. The family will have a visitation on October 25, 2018 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home of Old Fort.

A service will follow in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at 2:00 p.m. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
